- GLIDEPOINT(R) PORTABLE TOUCH SURFACE
- Combination Serial & Mouse Port Version
-
-
- Thank you for purchasing a GlidePoint(R) touch surface, first of a
- new genre of input devices. This device works with PC compatible
- computers.
-
- INSTALLATION:
- -------------
- For use with a Serial Port, simply plug the GlidePoint connector into
- the computer's serial port. For use with a Round PS/2 Mouse Port,
- connect the supplied adapter and plug into the round PS/2 mouseport
- connector. In any event, connect BEFORE turning on the computer.
-
- The GlidePoint touch surface is "Plug and Point" compatible with
- standard Microsoft or Logitech mouse software drivers which may
- already be installed on your system. If you have problems, or want
- optimal performance, you can install the GlidePoint driver (see the
- On-line User's Guide).
-
- USE:
- ----
- Glide your finger across the surface to move the cursor. Notice that
- NO CONTACT FORCE IS REQUIRED. Roll your finger tip slightly for
- extra-fine positioning. Use the buttons like mouse buttons, or use
- tapping on the surface. Tap with a light touch, and lift your finger
- crisply. Please "RUN" TUTORIAL.EXE (located on your GlidePoint disk)
- from the Windows Program Manager's "File" menu for tapping
- instructions, fun practice, and additional hints. Be sure to smile
- while using!
-
- GLIDEPOINT DISKETTE INCLUDES:
- -----------------------------
- * DOS and Windows driver files - see On-line GlidePoint User's
- Guide. Install from DOS using A:\INSTALL (or B:\INSTALL).
-
- * README.TXT - The file you are currently reading. It contains
- helpful information. It can be read with any standard text
- editor, such as DOS Edit or Windows Notepad, or with the
- command "more < readme.txt". Also, it can be printed using
- the command "copy readme.txt prn:".
-
- * GLIDE.TXT - On-line User's Guide. Can be read using the same
- methods for README.TXT.
-
- * TUTORIAL.EXE - Introduces GlidePoint features - TRY IT!
- Select "RUN" from the File menu of Windows' Program Manager
- Insert the GlidePoint disk in drive A: (or B:)
- Type A:\TUTORIAL (or B:\TUTORIAL) and hit ENTER
-
- * GPSETUP.EXE - a utility to setup special GlidePoint features such
- as disabling tapping, left - right swapping button taps or
- GlidePoint orientation. Run from DOS before drivers are
- loaded (eg, AUTOEXEC.BAT). GPSetup works for both the PS/2
- interface and the serial interface. Run GPSetup without any
- arguments for more information.
-
-
- WHAT TO DO IF YOU HAVE TROUBLE:
- -------------------------------
-
- If you have trouble, try the following: Many portable computers have
- built-in pointing devices. Some must be disabled using the "CMOS
- BIOS setup" to recognize an external pointing device like GlidePoint
- Portable. Be sure you are plugged into a mouseport, not a keyboard
- port. Connect while your computer is turned off. Install the
- GlidePoint driver. Read the On-line User's Guide.
-
- Before installing the driver files using the INSTALL program, you may
- need to modify your the setting of your PATH environment variable
- (usually set up in AUTOEXEC.BAT). The install procedure works best
- if your PATH references the directory containing the copy of Windows
- which you are currently using. Also, your PATH should not reference
- any additional copies of Windows you might have.
